Give me a break

Being a Friday, the morning was quite slow and easy.
After breakfast with WY at the bistro, we were already enthusiastically waiting for lunch to come.
Lunch was planned at Crytal Jade Kitchen as Bonny was craving for their porridge and Cha Siew Soh since 2 days ago.
I knew i had to have it.
4 of us had a great time laughing at silly stuff over the meal.
You know...it's just a Friday thingy.
None that i knew that it could be a totally different story after the hearty lunch.

Almost immediately when we got back, i attended a briefing for a new task which my boss "nominated" [as she put it] me for.
Frankly speaking, i didn't mind taking up the job at all.
PROVIDED that i had more room to stretch.
But the truth is...that's not that case at all!
I mean i understand that my boss' intention was positive as she wanted me to be exposed to new areas.

Seriously, i really appreciated it and partly, it was me who requested for new exposure.
But i'm having a little difficulty breathing with the piling of old and new tasks concurrently.

The rest told me to speak to my boss about it and try to decline the new task but i had a strange view with that idea.
If i placed myself into the shoes of my boss, i wouldn't accept the idea of declining a job even before trying out.
To me, that's just an excuse of being lazy/complacent/selfish. Whatever you want to name it. With that in mind, i will HANG ON till i fall off the cliff.
And so, i patiently sat through the briefing and patiently clarify the things i need to do and patiently noted down the deadline.
You know the torture when you had to do something which you dislike?
It's ok it's ok. I'm cool about it.
After turning my ways round and round with the project owner, i managed to minimalise the amount of work i have to do for this task.
I is cleber. Haha.

When i got back to my desk, i received an email from a staff from another division.
You see...i was organising a DeepaRaya celebration at Tourism Court and the first publicity blast went out today.
In case you are unaware, DeepaRaya is literally a combined term of Deepavali and Hari Raya Puasa.
It was used in recent years [i think] when Hari Raya Puasa and Deepavali were dated very closely to each other.
Hence some organisations would combine their celebrations of both festivals into one.
Yah so i was saying, Bonny was organising a DeepaRaya celebration since Hari Raya Puasa and Deepavali were 3 weeks apart for this year.
We fixed the event to be held on 1 Nov which is 1 week before Deepavali.
Then today, THAT staff upon seeing the publicity blast, sent me an email and commented that it's WRONG for us to celebrate Deepavali before the actual day!
She said that "it just like celebrating Christmas and CNY before the festivals actually happened and it's weird".
Errr...shouldn't that be the case? What so weird about that?
I mean I celebrate Christmas before 25Dec and I also [prefer to] celebrate my birthday before 9Jun. It was a practice since young lah.
My mother said "after that no meaning already". Not sure if i'm the minority though.
But even said so, what's the BIG HAIRY DEAL of celebrating before or after the actual day???
Frankly, i couldn't find a logic out of her comment.
In any case, i replied her politely, explaining why did we choose that date and we would also be doing the same thing for Christmas etc.
And she replied almost immediately "Well, it's unfortunate then".
HELLO!!! We were doing all these things for the welfare of the staff ON TOP of our work deliverables loh. And did i mention that i already had difficulty to breathe with my current work portfolios?
Yes it's a voluntary job but it's really for the benefit of the staff what.
If can't be appreciative, then show some courtesy can?
Encountering with such people could really spoil my day.
Thank goodness it was near to knock off time.

Time for bed and it's Saturday tomorrow already!!! Woohoo!!!

Have a good weekend!
