A Week's Worth

I seriously couldn't forgive myself for waking up before 10 o'clock this morning.
It was the rarest among the rare, other than the times that i was forced to.
And i knew i wasn't feeling comfortable at all.
Not for the fact that i didn't have enough sleep, but was due to the disturbing backache that has been bothering me for days.
I just couldn't lie down properly when it should be the most relaxing posture.
The tension on the back muscle was causing so much pain that i wished i had a meat tenderizer.
I need some pounding. Badly.

During CG last evening, God released a word - PURPOSE, to me nearing the end of worship and i had a flashback of what i've been doing for the past months.
Work, ministry, life...chasing deadlines after deadlines, completing tasks after tasks and packing my time with events after events.
God (finally) asked, in the midst of all these, what is my purpose?
I looked back and realised how rapid things have transited in every aspects.
To a point that i became so used to changes and emotions didn't even have time to set it.
In MBTI language, my T-ness has gone up and my J-ness has gone down.
Nothing negative or positive about it but it's good to be aware so as to keep a balance.
When i started serving in church, i learned how to do things for people without expecting any tangible returns, sometimes it could be the reverse. =p
I often asked why do i have to put myself through these.
I recalled once, when Angela and i were lamenting to each other about the loads and the difficulties we encountered during the drama production, she said, in a very casual manner "What to do? You and i have really experienced God, how not to love and serve Him and His people".
Sounds very abstract i know. I couldn't explain either. But the message was so loud that it through my heart and i was instantly recharged.
In the road ahead, i can't promise that i won't complain but i'm sure the joy i experience will weigh way beyond that.
I found my purpose, what about you?

Church camp is coming in less than a month! Can't wait!
Being in the camp committee this year made me even more excited about the yearly event, despite the crazy preparation.
In any case, all things well and i'm quite ready to go!
Erm, meanwhile i'm praying that the swine flu won't invade too badly across the border.
Don't leh...

Alright, something lighter.

Bengzy regretted big time for telling me that Dorothy Perkins was having a great sale when we had our usual dinner in the mid-week.
I just couldn't stop thinking about the pair of jeans and it's even harder to ignore when i heard about the sale.
He agreed reluctantly to a detour to the store after dinner and in less than 15min, i was out with the jeans, 60% lesser than the original price. Woohoo!
When i got home, i found a small transparent plastic bag containing a lil card and a pair of golden earrings, packed together with my jeans.
For a moment i thought if it accidentally dropped into my shopping bag accidentally or worse, i was FRAMED!
Until i saw the print on the card.
I was indeed shocked surprised. Very pleasantly in fact.
I thought the Marketing person was such a genius to think of such a gimmick.
Personally, the surprise was much more impactful that its content, at least to me.
Somehow the strings of butterflies reminded me of 《迷离夜》. Eeeyer... =p

The old Planners met up for lunch finally for...hmm...an ambiguous objective. Hmm ok...shan't disclose now.
I had so much fun that made me very sad as i really really missed the good old team. =( Especially in times like this. Sigh.
In any case, i volunteered to organise the housewarming for Evan and we are all going to have fun again! =)
The $1.10 chicken wings caught the eyes of some people but was brought to a disappointment when we were told that it was only valid for takeaways.
Then s.o.m.e.b.o.d.y bargained his way through (as usual) with the cantonese aunty and tada!!! Here's our six chicken wings in a takeaway box!

Introducing s.o.m.e.b.o.d.y! Heh.
Later we realised it was actually more costly for them, to serve in the plastic box than on a plate.
I didn't know Cystal Jade operates like the government. Oops...

Running for camp comm meeting now!
Oh oh last but not least...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Tecky and Ee-ly (i just have to end with 'y' lah, but you know it's you hor? heh).

Terminal 3

After the church's 10km last Saturday, Carol's suggestion of chilling at Terminal 3 excited me to leave the house without much hesitation, even with the weary body.
You know the best thing about staying in the east is that i don't really have to consider much about visiting my favourite places, eg the airport, the beach and many others.
Being my first visit eversince it opened in January this year, i, as usual, had to put on the suaku attitude.
It's strange that i'm pretty used to behaving like this at first-visits, of course, depending on my company as well. Haha.

As the repetition of the previous terminals, i wasn't really awed by anything spectacular.
It was just...expectedly well-designed and well-maintained.
It has the additional modernized essence as compared to the previous terminals, which i would be extremely surprised if it hasn't.
Imagine building a new terminal with a design 20 years ago? Duh right...

Ok if i really were to comment, it would be this greeny backdrop behind the girls.
This 300-metre (five-storey) vertical garden that houses climbing plants, vines and 4 separate waterfalls is known as The Green Wall and it's placed at the Departure Hall.
According to the official website, the purpose of having this wall is to merge natural elements with structured materials to create a lush yet futuristic design.
Unfortunately, i had goosebump at my first sight of the wall. =p
It just look...hideous. =p

As long as i don't have to stay near The Scary Green Wall, i would love to go back again. =)

Queue Watch

If you have ever visited the government polyclinics, i'm sure you will swear that you will never go back again with the donkey years of waiting.
Then don't know which genius invented the Queue Watch.
They planted cameras at several spots in the clinic and there will be live broadcast on their website, with the objective of showing the crowd condition.

That day when i was at the clinic, i decided to get Persi to test if it's real.
And she caught this image live from the website!

System certified!

Cool sia!

Singapore Tourism Awards - The Prelude

Before i doze off from my chair, i thought i better find some distraction from the boring numbers that i've been starring at since morning.

Ok an update.
You might [but most probably not] have heard of the Singapore Tourism Awards.
Basically it's just like any other award event that was set up to recognise individuals and organisations that provide excellent services and products in Singapore and as its name suggests, it's the tourism scene that we're looking at.
The Board is into its 22nd year of organising this event and it's a culture that every year, they will get industry partners to participate in the performance segment.
And being in the Music in Motion team of the Board, naturally i'll be given the option to participate this year.
Hence, dear readers, Bonny will be performing on the stage of the Esplanade!!!!

A little background...
Initially i thought i was gonna miss this opportunity as i couldn't attend the one and only rehearsal which clashed right into a cell meeting.
I suggested to the coordinator from the events company that, if the choreographer could allocate a part to me, i'll catch up at the next full dress rehearsal but if not, i just had to pull out totally.
That day, i hung up the phone, feeling miserable. =(

By God's grace, i got an email on Monday, informing me that i could still be in the performance team! Woohoo!!!
I didn't ask how did this happen but if it's not God, then who else? =)

So, last evening, together with the 11 other singers from the various tourism industries, we went for the studio recording!
Oh well, until we've reached Kit Chan's standard, i don't think we are capable of singing LIVE at the Esplanade.
But at least the voiceover is sung by us what!
Anyway, it was my first studio recording in the whole of my vocal life and boy...i felt like a pro.
I had to constantly watch myself in case i went too drama. You know, i am capable of that =p
Even when the 4 lines that i've recorded would be ultimately blend in with the rest of the choir, who cares man! It's the EXPERIENCE!
Imagine...how many of the common peasants like me will have the chance of standing on the stage of Esplanade? Other than the repair man lah.
At the end of the day, nobody will remember who is singing which line, right or not!

Oh oh...the guest of honour for the event is none other than our President S R Nathan and i hope i won't make a fool of myself before him. =p
Hmm...i wonder if Mr Teo Ser Luck will be there? Perhaps Ken might have invited him during the YOG carnival last week hor or maybe he has grown some interest in tourism (apart from the usual sports) during the process of the YOG bid. =p
Oh errm...anyway...

Check out some shots i captured at the studio yesterday!

George Chan, the guy on the left, is the choreographer for the entire performance for the ceremony.
He choreographed the iconic musical Beauty World and Forbidden City, and was one of the judges for The Dance Floor, the dancing competition on Mediacorp Ch 5.
The recording master on the right is Leslie Pillay.

Leslie was really patient with us.
Even when we sounded so off sometimes, he never lack in words of encouragement.

Recording in progress.

Li Ling, one of the four from the Board.

Choon Yen, from the Board as well.

To my surprise, most of the singers were from the retail industry this year. Nike, Fox etc.
Oh and the Luge too!

The recording lasted for a good 2.5 hours even when i've only repeated my 4 precious lines for 4 times.
In any case, it's fun lah.

The full dress rehearsal will be this Sunday before the actual event next Tuesday, held at the Esplanade.

A bit scared leh... =p

Update

I think my previous post scare some of you.
I'm ok i'm ok. Really. =)

Some updates...

Last Saturday, Bonny went for Jay's concert.
Habitually, i would blog the post-concert review
I wanted to! But just plain lazy.
I haven't gone online after i got home daily.
Very drained and exhausted by then.
But no worries, it will be out hmm...soon. =)

Lately took up pilates.
After much contemplation, i've finally decided to give it a shot.
For the sake of my back muscle.
It can't be resting for too long, otherwise not sure when will it decide to contract again.
The night after the first lesson, i thought i could literally hear my muscle protesting.
I was surprised of myself for performing the stunts that i didn't thought i could.
Not every one though. But it's good enough.
The stretching was pretty strenuous and i couldn't help but to question myself umpteen times on the trouble i put myself to.
I mean i could have a cruising Friday lunch at Great World.
Well, no pain [literally] no gain.
Ouch my back....

BB has gotten his 'O's result yesterday.
Sigh...disappointing.
He merely hit the entry mark for the polytechnics.
Thankfully the courses he's keen on have high cut-off points.
Now it's just a matter of arranging them to his advantage.
Well, the only outcome we wish is to push him into a polytechnic, doesn't matter which one.

I have to stop now.
The muscle relaxant is making me uber drowsy.

Ciaoz.

Bonny Lookalike (Self-Deceiver Version)

Jer saw the celebrity-lookalike site from here and he started to amuse himself with different pictures.
Being egoistic, he would tell me his results with Leslie lah and some other good looking guys.
However today, while playing with it again, he found something that I LIKE!

See see...

HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
I couldn't stop laughing.
Hey...come to think of it, we could be long lost sisters since we have the same surname!
Muahahahahaha!!!!!
Call me Ziyi! Muahahaha...

While i thought mine was ridiculous, Jer showed me an ultimate one.

*faint*
He wins.
