I Read

As much as i would love to, "reading" is a word that will never be listed under "My Hobbies" in autograph books.
Often i have to try my best to hide my disappointment whenever i received a book for Christmas or worse, birthdays. Sorry to those who find this familiar. =p
The copies of Christian literature are collecting thick layers of dust on my book shelf and seriously, i find myself guilty for ignoring them since the day they were conveniently slotted in.
I couldn't last through a book till the end before i lost my patience. I'm just too visual.

I enjoy my visits to PP Borders though.
The cool aircon, the non-congested environment and strangely i like the smell of (new) books.

For umpteen times, Bengz has asked the same question at each visit.
"You don't read wan hor?"
But all i do is to religiously tailgate him as he searches high and low for his books.
Occasionally i would be attracted to pick up a book or two with pretty covers or travel guides which provide brief info for a quick takeaway.
Finally i would steer towards the gifts and stationery section which has nice collections of pouches, boxes, wrappers and cards.
That is it.

Then came one day during one of our usual Borders trip, i picked up something at random and now, i'm hooked. It tells the true story of Dawn, a sweet and seemingly well-balanced girl whose outward appearance masks a traumatic childhood of suffering at the hands of the very people who should have cared for her.
The repercussion she underwent was painful and heartbreaking, at the same time, angering and unbelievable.
I've not even hit the halfway mark but i could foresee that i might end up tearful towards the end.

Cathy Glass has been a foster carer for more than 20 years, and had looked after more than 50 children. She gave accounts of the kids she took care of as writing helped her to come to terms of what the children had been through.
I should be following her for quite a while.

At last, i can respond positively to the question at our next Borders visit. Heh.

Cottage Waffle Place!!!

My dear sister Hel took a bold step and went in entrepreneurship so she's now the commonly known as, 老板娘.
I'm ecstatically overjoyed with the news and have great faith that she will be able to make it.
Finally can put her years of experience at IES to good use. Heh heh.
Cottage Waffle Place is officially opened for business today at the Singapore Management University! Another new eating kiosk for the undergrads!

With the 老板娘's recommendation, i took the Chilli-Cheese Patty Meltz (beef) set which comes with fries and a drink.
Very neatly packed and compact enough for a takeaway bite and the platter indeed looked very appetizing.
Imagine a burger, replacing the conventional buns with waffles! How interesting is that?
The beef patty is juicy and the lettuce added the extra crunch.
The fluffiness of the waffle + the contentment of the meat patty + the crunchiness of the fresh lettuce - all in one bite!
Seriously i would never think that my all-time-favourite waffle dessert can be turned into a savoury affair. This is such a unique invention!
If you ever drive past the boutique university in town, do catch a glimpse of the little kiosk next to Subway.
I'm definitely going back to try the rest on the menu.
Hmm...you can try quoting Bonny's name and maybe you will get an extra piece of lettuce latest update!!! 老板娘 says that you will get more fries!! Heh.

The Week

It was an eventful week.
Not that i didn't want to blog earlier but physically, it was impossible.
Tired leh.

Monday, the photoshop creative class at BTC.
Arrived uber late from work and only played a fool with the rest of the 'classmates' in the midst of the lesson.
Bonny was never naughty in class, i cross my heart.
But a serious class after a hard day's work was no joke.
That explained why i slept through 3/4 of my uni days. Oops.

Tuesday, movie number one - I Love You, Man.
It was h.y.s.t.e.r.i.c.a.l.
Simple plot with an atypical yet real story. Complex.
But for just its humour, it's worth the $8.50.
Wil entered the theatre with zero knowledge of the film and i think he's a bit skeptical even. But he came out, thumbs-up!

Wednesday, movie number two - Duplicity.
I think Cathay made a mistake by setting its genre as "comedy" and i was conned thoroughly.
I was hoping that the love affair of the spies-turned-corporate operatives would be witty enough, even if it's not the hilarious kind.
Unfortunately, it was far from a comedy.
Not even an action-packed, perhaps...hmm..i don't know. Ahh know i see the problem of the classifier.
Bengz and i took turns to snooze (unconsciously) at the long draggy front part but thank God the pace was picked up towards the end.
Seriously for such storyline, i would expect the plot to be a bit cleverer.

Thursday, ex-colleagues day!
Met dearie Celyn for lunch and boy, i missed her so much.
The one hour lunch date was totally insufficient and we've agreed to have another session next week!
In the evening, met the CBT group and we had a terrific time reminiscing the days when we were working in the travel agency.
It's so funny to realise how the same tour guide, at the same destination, could result into two significantly different tour-leading experiences.
It was nice catching up.

Not forgetting this sweet little surprise which i received in office one morning.
Hidden under my laptop cover was this black classy box which got me really excited.
I knew it was my uber belated birthday gift which i've been chasing for the longest time. Hah.
But i really didn't know what to expect.
It was after i mentioned that i was searching for a pretty hair accessory for the upcoming weddings, and i got this.
Very pretty isn't it? =)

Bonapers

The last Bonapers was so long ago that i couldn't remember when.
We have been busy in our own lives, but never fail to keep in touch everyday. Thank God for msn.
I'm glad we made it tonight.
As usual, it has to be a new hunt.

Food for Thought was where we set foot in and i couldn't describe my delight!
Lovely food, cozy decorations with noble purposes. It's just so-Bonny.

Next Bonapers will be after Persi's....Mt K expedition!

Persi...要保重啊!!!
